Kidney Disease Through Two Lenses: A Patient’s Journey and a Physician’s Insight

The WVU Committee of Retired Faculty and OLLI will host “Kidney Disease Through Two Lenses: A Patient’s Journey and a Physician’s Insight” by Tyler Skidmore, MD, on Wednesday, October 7, at 2:30 p.m. on Zoom. Follow the presenter’s journey with kidney disease through symptoms to diagnosis to treatment, including being put on the transplant list, undergoing dialysis, receiving a transplant, and life after transplantation. He will also discuss kidney disease and transplantation from a medical perspective. A Q&A will follow the presentation. Dr. Skidmore is an outpatient general neurologist at WVU Thomas Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV, where he has worked since 2024. He treats a broad spectrum of neurologic diseases, but much of his practice consists of dementia, headache, neuropathy, and tremor. Dr. Skidmore received his bachelor’s degree from Marshall University with a major in biochemistry and a minor in psychology and his medical degree from the Marshall Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. His goal is to provide excellent neurologic care in his home state of WV.
